Bill AB 665: separating children from their un-'woke' parents
Bill gives full autonomy to children while completely eroding parental rights. This Bill allows minors 12 and older to consent to their own mental health treatment or place themselves into an outpatient residential shelter without parents’ consent or notification if the professional, after consulting the minor, feels the involvement would be inappropriate. Currently, minors over 12 can only consent to these services if they are in danger of serious physical or mental harm to themselves or to others, or if the minor is the alleged victim of incest or child abuse. AB 665 would remove those two requirements that served as guardrails.
AB659-HPV: CANCER PREVENTION ACT (AGUIAR-CURRY)
Assembly Bill 659, also known as the HPV vaccine mandate bill has been amended. It removed the mandate for 8th graders but now will add Human Papillomavirus (HPV) to the described list of diseases for which immunization documentation is required for all students, ages 18-26, enrolled in Community College, UC, and Cal State Universities. Only a medical exemption will be available to opt-out.
AB 1078: INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: REMOVING INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS AND CURRICULUM: DIVERSITY
It would require school boards to receive approval from the state board of education before removing any instructional materials or books from classrooms and school libraries or "ceasing to teach any curriculum.” AB 1078 would strip school boards’ of authority over curriculum. This bill would require the state board to develop, by July 1, 2024, a policy for local educational agencies to follow before removing any instructional materials or ceasing to teach any curriculum.
